Change your email address

Why you can't change your email address yourself, and how to ask support to change it.

In Settings›Account, your Email is grayed out with Email cannot be changed. That’s on purpose: support changes it for you.

The Email field on the Account tab, grayed out, showing tom.fletcher@harborlane.dev, with the note Email cannot be changed
Your email address is shown, but can't be edited.

Your email address does two jobs in Wikidoc:

  • It’s how you sign in. With a password, or with Google, where it’s your Google account’s address.
  • Its domain decides your organization. Everyone at @yourcompany.com belongs to the same organization, so a new address at a different domain would move you to a different organization, with its own plan and seats. See How organizations, members and seats work.

Because of that second job, we check each change with you first, so nobody loses their files or training record by accident.

  1. In Settings›Account, click Contact support.

  2. Tell us your new email address and why it’s changing, for example because your company changed its domain.

  3. Send it. Send from your current account, so we know the request is really yours.

We reply to your current email address, generally within 48 hours, to confirm the change and what it means for your organization.

You don’t need to change anything. Sign up again with your new work address, and you’ll join your new organization. Your old account stays with your old organization, and one of its Admins can remove it. See Leave an organization or delete your account.
