What triggers a notification

Every email Wikidoc sends, what triggers it, and whether it starts on.

Each row below is a setting on Settings›Notifications. Turning a setting off stops the email. Things people do that involve you still appear on your Activity page, so you won’t miss something you need to act on, such as an approval request. Reminders, such as training deadlines and unused recognition points, are email only. See How notifications work.

A few things are true for every setting:

  • You’re never notified about something you did yourself.
  • When the same kind of thing happens on one item several times within about five minutes, such as a run of comments on one file, you get one notification about the first, not one for each.
  • Account and billing emails, such as a failed payment, have no setting. See Emails you can’t turn off.
